Behind the Design:Â
Game of ThronesÂ
A Cinematic Holiday Experience Inspired by Medieval Darkness, Rich Textures, and Storytelling

Â
Some design stories begin with a single feeling. For this project, it began with a client who loved Game of Thrones, not the dragons, not the swords, but the dark, moody, medieval atmosphere that defined the show’s world. Their dining room was already rich, dramatic, and shadowed in deep tones, and they wanted their holiday décor to reflect that same energy.
The challenge, and the opportunity, was to take that passion and translate it into something sophisticated, elegant, and holiday‑ready. That is the heart of true design: transforming a feeling into an environment that is elevated, cohesive, and immersive.

Designing a Cinematic Holiday Space
This project was never about placing a dragon in the tree or recreating a TV set. It was about creating a feeling, the cinematic darkness, the regal undertones, the old‑world richness that makes Game of Thrones so visually iconic.

We achieved this through:
-
Deep jewel tones: burgundy, wine, chocolate, blackened gold
-
Layered metallics: bronze, antique gold, aged copper
-
Rich textures: velvet ribbons, moody florals, matte ornaments, hammered metals
-
Architectural accents: sculptural pieces, vintage objects, medieval‑inspired silhouettes
-
Cohesive styling throughout the room: tree, mantel, tablescape, shelves, entry moments
Â
The result was a holiday space that felt immersive, cinematic, and beautifully aligned with the client’s home, a refined interpretation of the medieval world they loved.
Why Vintage Matters in a Design Like This
Vintage pieces are the secret to making themed designs feel authentic, not gimmicky. They tie the entire narrative together and ensure the theme is felt everywhere your eyes land, subtly, intentionally, and without ever becoming overly matchy.
For this project, vintage was essential.

Vintage pieces create authenticity.
They make the design feel like it grew from the space itself, not like décor was dropped in for the season.

They add history, soul, and depth.
A medieval‑inspired holiday design needs objects with weight — pieces that feel storied, aged, and meaningful.

From Inspiration to Immersion
How a Medieval Vision Became a Cinematic, Sophisticated Holiday Design
Creating an Elevated Medieval Holiday Narrative
The goal was never to recreate Westeros. The goal was to create a holiday environment that felt:
-
regal
-
moody
-
cinematic
-
warm
-
immersive
-
and deeply personal to the client
Â
Holiday design should always feel like an extension of the space, not a commercial red‑and‑gold installation, not a literal theme, but a story told through décor.
Â
This project became a perfect example of how a client’s passion can be transformed into something elegant and holiday‑ready. You get to live in the feeling you love, all season long.
